Traveling can have a negative social and climate impact.

It creates carbon emissions, over-tourism, and poorly paid jobs.

THE FAQs

Impact is what would not have happened without the organisation’s activities. It is the value that the organisation adds. It is the difference the organisation makes in the world by affecting the things valued most in society. An impact can be positive or negative, intended, or unintended. It can be seen in many areas, including social, environmental, economic, and political contexts.
Impact helps us to understand the consequences and outcomes of our activities. By considering the potential impact of our business activities and products on people, the environment, destinations, local communities, and society we can make better informed and responsible decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (customers, employees, nature, climate, investors, suppliers).

Travel Impact Lab helps you to improve your business’ social, economic and environmental performance through Impact Measurement and Management (IMM).We have created an impact process and framework and use sustainability reporting frameworks and standards relevant to the Travel and Tourism industry.

We support the participating start-ups in defining the impact strategy and materiality topics, setting the targets and KPIs, and collecting data to measure, manage, report, and improve.

We combine the effective outcome-based techniques and principles of impact measurement (e.g. Theory of Change, the Five dimensions of Impact) with our knowledge, expertise, experience, global network and funding to contribute to the success and sustainable growth of the start-ups.

The program kicks off in person for 2 weeks full-time in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Then it runs part-time online for 5 months and closes 2 weeks in-person for extensive pitch training, investor networking, and demo-day.

We require you to be on-site and available full-time for the first two weeks and the last two weeks (4 weeks total).
Each startup is responsible for obtaining the visa themselves. We can provide you with the invitation letter and support you in the process if necessary.

We are looking for startups with these requirements:

  • pre-seed to seed stage.
  • global focus
  • impact core or willingness to be impact core
  • both B2B or B2C
  • at least 2 team members working full-time
  • initial revenue
  • customer feedback
You will get a 100.000 euros Convertible Loan Agreement for 8% equity and be charged 30.000 euros for the program.

No, but you need to be on-site for 4 weeks of the program in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The rest will be held online so you can work from home. The program will run in the CET time zone, so you might need to adapt your schedule.

  1. We will review the applications after the deadline. It can take us up to 2 weeks to get back to you about your application. We might ask you additional questions in case needed during this process.
  2. If your application meets our criteria and the selection process, we will invite you for a 1:1 call with the team.
  3. We will shortlist 20 startups to pitch to our investment committee, and the team. 10 startups will be selected.
  4. There will be a due diligence process with the selected 10 startups, including legal review, tech review, and deal agreement.
  5. After successfully completing the due diligence process, startups will be invited to participate in our program and receive the investment.

We will introduce you to 80+ mentors from different areas of expertise, including impact, travel, and fundraising. You will have speed-dating events to meet all our mentors, and then you can select a lead mentor to work with during the program. The rest of the mentors will be available for on-demand mentorships based on your needs.

Yes, we will have dedicated investor office hours with investors from VCs, impact, and angels.

The corporate investors want to see you succeed. If it fits their business model, they are happy to set up commercial pilots with the startups to innovate themselves and help you scale during or after the program.

Our requirements for this cohort are set with the corporate investors. We do need to comply with them. Drop us a message, and they might change for the next cohort.

Yes, drop us a line, and we will join you on the journey to the moon. 😉
