Impact investments generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.
We are committed to measuring and reporting our investments’ social and environmental performance and progress.
We ensure transparency and accountability, a responsibility which we share with our portfolio companies.
We embed impact schedules in corporate documents and impact objectives in the business plan, aligning all stakeholders.
Through our impact process and framework, we measure and manage the social, economic and environmental impact of each start-up’s business and the impact of the accelerator.
We combine the effective outcome-based techniques and principles of impact measurement (e.g. Theory of Change, the Five Dimensions of Impact) with our knowledge, expertise, experience, global network and funding to contribute to the success and sustainable growth of the start-ups.
In addition, Travel Impact Lab uses sustainability reporting frameworks and standards relevant to the travel and tourism industry to disclose the impact and non-financial results (Environmental, Social and Governance).
In the context of sustainability, “impact” refers to the effect or influence that human activities have on the environment, economy, and society. It can refer to both positive and negative effects, and can be measured or evaluated in various ways, such as through environmental, social impact, or life cycle assessments.
The United Nations defines impact in the context of sustainable development as “the change, whether positive or negative, that a development intervention has on the social, economic, or environmental conditions of the target area or population” (United Nations, 2015).
In general, when assessing the sustainability of a project or activity, it is important to consider its potential impacts on the environment, economy, and society, and to seek ways to maximize positive impacts while minimizing negative ones.
